Temporary Walkway Through the OBI Tunnel Starting August 17, 2026
Starting August 17, 2026, a gravel path through the OBI Tunnel—which is accessible on foot but not wheelchair-accessible—will once again be available. It is approximately 1.20 meters wide. Coming out of the tunnel, the route heads north toward Camburger Straße through the adjacent wooded area and the garage complex located there.
The major renovation of the pedestrian and bike path from Camburger Straße to the OBI Tunnel is expected to last until October 31, 2026. The detour via Spitzweidenweg and the Saalbahnoftunnel—which has been signposted since construction began—will also remain in place until the end of the construction period.
Another Closure in October
From October 12 through October 30, 2026 (as currently planned), the tunnel must be completely closed once again for technical reasons. During this period, it will not be possible to cross the tunnel. The closure will coincide, among other things, with the two weeks of fall break.
