Thursday: Nationwide warning day also in Jena

09.09.2020

The nationwide warning day will take place for the first time on 10.09.2020. In future, this will take place on the 2nd Thursday in September each year. Jena is taking part in this warning day.

The aim of the joint federal, state and local government action day is to test warning infrastructures and raise public awareness of the warning resources available
(such as sirens, warning apps, digital advertising spaces).

The test warning will be carried out on the warning day at 11 a.m. by the national warning center at the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) with the involvement of all connected warning devices.

It is sent to all warning multipliers that are connected to the Modular Warning System (MoWaS) (e.g. app servers, radio stations). The warning multipliers in turn send the test warning in their systems or programs to end devices such as radios and warning apps.

In addition, warning tones are also sounded via all digital sirens (16 of them) in Jena:
6 tones of 5 seconds each with a 5 second pause

This will be followed by a voice announcement over all the sirens:

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CITY OF JENA; THIS IS A TEST ALARM FOR THE
NATIONWIDE WARNING DAY 2020, THERE IS NO DANGER FOR THE POPULATION

The announcement will be repeated once.

Finally, the all-clear will be given by the sirens of the city of Jena (1 minute continuous tone).
