The preparatory team in our Franconian twin city has once again prepared an interesting day this year: Lutz Rathenow, writer and former State Commissioner of the Free State of Saxony for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship, will speak at the ceremony. There will also be a guided tour of the Huguenot city of Erlangen, performances by two big bands from Erlangen and Jena in Palais Stutterheim, a pub quiz, a light show in the Huguenot Church and an ecumenical prayer service at the end. As every year, a table tennis and volleyball tournament will round off the program.
The town twinning between Jena and Erlangen was established in 1987. For many years, the two cities have celebrated the twinning day together on October 3 and visit each other on this day in alternating years. This year, Erlangen invites all citizens of Jena to join in the celebrations.
Jena's Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche and his Erlangen colleague Dr. Florian Janik will be there.
