Tree felling in Nollendorfer Straße

For the fundamental renovation of Nollendorfer Straße in the area between Nollendorfer Platz and Thomas-Mann-Straße, tree felling will be carried out by the contracted construction company on Thursday, 23.02.2023.

This felling is necessary to enable the laying of the new drinking water and power lines and to ensure sufficient clearance for the construction work.

Intensive consideration was given to preserving the trees. Unfortunately, the trees are so close to the existing pipes and the road that it is not realistic to preserve them in connection with the expansion. The ground-breaking extension provides the opportunity to rearrange the existing pipes in the road and to install underground planting trenches with root protection for the trees and pipes on both sides of the road. These planting trenches thus offer significantly better and long-term secured site conditions for the new plantings. As a result, the 9 felled trees can be very well compensated for by 26 tree replacement plantings after completion of the construction work.

The tree protection commission was involved in the planning on several occasions and agreed to a future-oriented tree population planned on both sides of the road.
