Update of the Jena "City Study"
How attractive is Jena's city center? What are the main reasons for visiting it? What means of transportation are used to get there? And what suggestions are there for improving and developing it? Visitors to Jena's city center will be surveyed on these and other questions from this Thursday (25.05.2023) up to and including Saturday (27.05.2023) as part of the update of the Jena "City Study".
Long-term study was initiated in 1991
The "Study on the development of Jena's city center" (City Study for short), which was initiated in 1991, was last carried out in 2019. With a duration of over 30 years, it is one of the longest long-term studies ever conducted in Jena. The City Study is carried out by the Chair of Economic Geography at Friedrich Schiller University Jena on behalf of the City of Jena.
Focus on visitor perception and retail assessment
Questions of particular interest include how visitors perceive Jena's city center and how the retail offering is rated. The survey also asks how often respondents go shopping in the surrounding towns and cities as well as online. In addition, the update also asks questions about the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on individual usage and consumer behavior. The last survey as part of the City Study was conducted just a few months before the outbreak of the pandemic. The respondents' statements are therefore of great importance for future planning decisions to ensure that Jena remains attractive.
Results at the end of 2023
The results of the 19th edition of the Jena City Study are expected at the end of 2023. These will then be discussed with city politicians and city center retailers.
