Very good result for Jena in the CITY CYCLING competition

12.10.2023

The results of CITY CYCLING 2023 are impressive: The city of Jena was able to exceed the previous year's figures in every area. A total of 2,908 active cyclists in 141 teams took part this year. During the three-week campaign period, they covered 553,333 kilometers by bike in a total of 56,345 journeys. This means that each participant cycled an average of 190 kilometers. In this way, a total of around 90 tons of Co2 were avoided.

"I am very pleased about the high level of participation in city cycling once again. Cycling is not only an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way of getting around, but also a source of numerous positive effects for body and mind. Everyone benefits from daily cycling - the environment, the climate and ourselves," says Mayor and Head of Urban Development and Environment Christian Gerlitz.

Last year, 2,152 people in 120 teams took part in CITY CYCLING in the City of Light and together covered around 363,480 kilometers by bike.
