1070 Ukrainian refugees in Jena

29.04.2022

In the city of Jena 1070 people from Ukraine are registered and recorded in the Central Register of Foreigners (as of 29.4.2022). This week, a few refugees have arrived privately.

139 school enrollments have been notified so far. Of these, 135 students have already received confirmation of admission. 27 children from Ukraine attend a daycare center in Jena. Another 15 children will be admitted to a Jena Kita during the month of May, and 14 children are on a waiting list for admission to a Kita. A few daycare centers have Russian or Ukrainian-speaking teachers, which makes it easier for the children and their families to settle in and communicate with each other.

Move to a first new accommodation starts at the beginning of next week

Currently, there are still a few places available in the city's emergency accommodations (Göschwitz gymnasium and Emil-Wölk-Straße). At the beginning of next week, the move to a first new accommodation in Karl-Marx-Allee can begin. On one floor of a nursing home, primarily sick people, physically impaired people and the elderly will initially be accommodated. The teams for migration and integration as well as refugee affairs of the city of Jena are currently preparing the move for these groups of people step by step. In recent weeks, the furnishing of the rooms and on-site support have been organized. The accommodation offers space for about 90 people.
