Accompanying older people into the digital world
A new qualification round for media mentors in Jena and the surrounding districts will start next year. We are looking for committed volunteers who would like to support older people with questions about smartphones, tablets and the internet.
Digital media offer many opportunities: Sharing photos and messages via WhatsApp, making video calls, shopping safely online or using media libraries. But not everyone feels safe in this digital world. This is where media mentors come into play: they patiently support older people at eye level as they take their first steps in the digital world.
The "Active with media - media mentorsfor senior citizens" project run by the Mit Medien e.V. association offers free online training. This comprises five units on a Wednesday:
- 22.01.2025, 10:00-11:30 a.m.: Introductory and information event
- 29.01.2025, 10:00-13:00: Opportunities and possible uses of digital media
- 05.02.2025, 10:00-13:00: Risks and protection when using digital media - Part 1
- 12.02.2025, 10:00-13:00: Risks and protection when using digital media - Part 2
- 19.02.2025, 10:00-13:00: Framework conditions for educational offers and organization
