Additional Apartments in the Planned “dotsource Campus”
City Invites Public Participation Once Again
Change to the previous plan for Saalbahnhofstraße—48 additional apartments instead of office space
More apartments are to be built at the planned “dotsource Campus” on Saalbahnhofstraße than previously anticipated. To this end, the top two floors of the base building will no longer be used as office space but as 48 additional apartments. This is made possible by the application of amended legal regulations, known as the “Bauturbo.”

The relevant documents will be available for public review from Monday, August 10, 2026, through Friday, August 21, 2026. Why is there another public consultation?
The basis for this change is a new provision in the Building Code that has been in effect since October 2025. The so-called “Bauturbo” is intended to enable the creation of additional housing more quickly when a project deviates from the previously applicable building regulations.
In the case of the “dotsource Campus,” the existing plans are therefore to be amended so that the top two office floors of the base building can be used for 48 apartments in the future. This change requires the city’s approval.
Prior to making this decision, the city is giving the public the opportunity to comment on the revised plans. This public participation process thus offers the chance to review the documents and submit comments or suggestions regarding the project.
Further information on the public participation process, submitting comments, and data protection can be found on the City of Jena’s website mentioned above as well as in the announcement in Official Gazette No. 31/26.
