Applications for advance maintenance payments can now be made online

22.03.2023

The "Advance maintenance payments online" service is now available to citizens of the city of Jena. This online service can be used to apply digitally to the Youth Welfare Department for advance maintenance payments in accordance with the Maintenance Advance Act (UVG).

To access the relevant pages, we recommend entering "Apply for advance maintenance payments" in the Thuringia state authority finder (see below). On the website of the City of Jena, the link takes you directly to the online application .

To use the online application, you need to register with a valid e-mail address or use the online ID function.

Practical information on the online application

In order to submit an application online, users must authenticate themselves to the Jena city administration. This can be done in two ways:

  • The Service Account Plus integrates the online ID function, which allows the application to be submitted completely digitally (more information on the online ID function can be found here(link is external)).
  • If the online ID function is not used, the service account can be used as an alternative. Users register here with their user name and valid e-mail account. It is important that they send a signed signature sheet, which can be downloaded at the end of the application process, to the city administration by post in addition to their online application. The application is only valid once the signature sheet has been sent.

To ensure that the application is processed smoothly, it is essential to follow the instructions on the application form and to ensure that the documents to be enclosed are complete. In addition, a personal interview is still required for all new applications.

Responsibility finder as the central service portal of the state of Thuringia

The state of Thuringia provides a service portal for searching for information on an administrative service - the responsibility finder. The responsibility finder can be used to find information on the administrative services of the respective municipalities and the relevant responsible office (e.g. the youth welfare department of the city of Jena). If an online service exists for an administrative service, the request can be started directly from here. You can find the responsibility finder here(link is external). All online services are also bundled on the website of the City of Jena(link is external).

The City of Jena's digital administrative work is being continuously expanded by the Online Access Act

The Act to Improve Online Access to Administrative Services (Online Access Act - OZG) obliges the federal, state and local governments to offer their administrative services digitally via administrative portals. In order for the city administration of Jena to gradually expand its digital services, it regularly checks whether online services are available and whether they can be reused. In doing so, the city administration ensures that the online services are designed to be user-friendly for citizens, companies and associations, i.e. that they are as intuitive to use as possible. In addition to the application for advance maintenance payments, the following services can already be completed online with the city of Jena:

  • Registering, deregistering and re-registering motor vehicles
  • Registering vehicle license plates
  • Applying for and renewing a resident parking permit
  • Apply for a certificate of good conduct
  • Online lost and found office
  • Apply for a registration certificate and information from the population register
  • Online status query for the passport, ID card, eID card applied for
