Applications for postal votes in Jena on record course

27.08.2021

After the election notifications were delivered to eligible voters in Jena last weekend and at the beginning of this week, 10,752 applications for absentee ballots have been received by the administration as of Friday morning (27.08.2021). The administration is working at full speed to process the applications promptly and to deliver the absentee ballots within a few days.

The administration expects a postal vote share of about 50 percent for Jena, which corresponds to about 30,000 postal voters. According to the first trend, the percentage could be even higher. In the last election in Jena, the 2019 state election, the postal vote share had been about 30 percent, which corresponded to about 16,000 postal voters at that time.

Anyone who would also like to apply for a postal vote can do so online at www.jena.de/briefwahl.

If the election notifications have not been delivered by September 5, they can be requested from September 6 at the election office in the Historic City Hall or by mail at wahlen@jena.de.
