Citizens' energy meeting on 19.09.
HIC Hamburg Institut Consulting GmbH is currently developing a municipal heating plan for the city of Jena on behalf of the city administration. With the help of municipal heat planning, the aim is to determine how much heat is currently needed locally, how heat demand will develop and which heat sources and infrastructure can be used to provide heat in the future - in a climate-neutral manner. Municipal heat planning is therefore an important strategic planning instrument for the municipality for the long-term design of the heat supply.
The current status of these plans will be presented at the BürgerEnergie-Treff on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Interested parties are welcome from 7:30 pm in the historic town hall. Admission is free.
Reinhard Guthke, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BürgerEnergie Jena eG and co-organizer of the BürgerEnergie-Treff, refers to the heating transition: "The citizens of Jena want to and should be involved in the ongoing municipal heating planning. This is important for the success of the heating transition, away from fossil natural gas and towards renewable energy sources."
Project manager Paula Möhring from the Hamburg Institute, Jena's climate protection coordinator Kevin Muschalle-Momberg and André Sack, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck GmbH, have been invited as speakers. The Hamburg Institute, the city and the municipal utilities jointly form the core working group for heat planning. The municipal utility companies contribute their network knowledge and network data, among other things. In addition, the strategy papers and development plans for electricity, gas and district heating already available at the municipal utilities are taken into account in the planning. Existing municipal and other public data was also included, for example on plot sizes, building stock and building age. In addition, solar potentials that had already been identified were incorporated into the planning.
Christian Gerlitz, Mayor and Head of the Department for Urban Development and the Environment, invites all citizens of Jena to the Citizens' Energy Meeting: "The question of how to heat our homes in the coming decades is not only a concern for us as a city, but of course also for many citizens and businesses in Jena. With municipal heating planning, we can and will create a degree of planning and investment security. I therefore cordially invite you to the BürgerEnergieTreff on September 19 to find out about the current status of planning"
As a result, various map views and planning documents for Jena are created with the support of special software, including
- the current heating requirements of the buildings in a district/neighborhood/street
- the future heating requirements of this district/quarter/street - based on the existing buildings and the gradual implementation of important refurbishment measures
- the potential for a centralized or decentralized heat supply in this district/quarter/street or for a single house supply (e.g. with a heat pump)
- a supplementary catalog of strategies and measures that shows concrete steps for implementing heat planning
The consulting and research company HIC is currently carrying out an analysis of the current situation and potential. On the one hand, the current heating requirements of the entire city are being recorded and, on the other, the potential of renewable energies and waste heat potential is being systematically recorded. The results of the inventory and potential analysis will be presented in Jena on September 19. The aim of the public event is to inform citizens and businesses in the city of Jena about the current status of the municipal heat planning process. These interim steps form the basis for the development of the subsequent target scenario as well as the suitability areas and the catalog of strategies and measures.
The city of Jena will present the final results of the municipal heat planning at a further public event. The final heat planning should be available at the beginning of 2025 and approved by the city council. Further information is available at: www.jena.de/waermeplanung(link is external)
