City of Jena issues general decree for 8.1.2024

08.01.2024

After the extensive road blockades by tractors and trucks on the central access roads to freeways or the main roads in the city of Jena, such as Stadtrodaer Straße, had dissipated, there are still individual short-term blockades of roads by tractor and truck corsos. According to current information from the security authorities, it is also becoming apparent that further similar blockades will be carried out repeatedly today at various locations in the city.

For this reason, the city of Jena has issued a general order for today, 8.1.2024, which stipulates that such street blockades are prohibited in the case of undeclared assemblies and must be dispersed immediately. This also applies to recognizably slow driving, which significantly impedes the flow of traffic. The general order applies with immediate effect and to all streets in the entire city of Jena.

Justification

From around 6 a.m. on January 8, 2024, it became apparent that all access roads (B 88, Erlanger Allee, B7) in and out of the city of Jena would be completely blocked by agricultural vehicles. From this point onwards, the flow of traffic on various main traffic routes was completely suspended for several hours in some cases. Only medical vehicles with special signals were allowed through. In addition, those responsible arbitrarily decided on the passage of individual vehicles, e.g. public transport and patient transports, insofar as these reached the closure at all. Access to Jena University Hospital in particular was therefore impossible.
