Corona commemoration in Jena

Today Germany commemorates the Corona victims. Since the beginning of the Corona pandemic, many people have died in Germany. In Jena, 66 people have died as a result of Corona disease. Quite often they died alone. Because of the restrictions of the pandemic, families and friends could not be with them and often could not say goodbye properly.

To commemorate the Corona victims, Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche took part in the memorial service in the city church today to pause and say goodbye with dignity.

To mourn together also means not only to register the numbers, but to keep the names of the deceased, to remember their faces and to make them aware of their respective fates. Behind every number there is a person, one of us.
