Number of cases

The number of corona cases in Jena rises to 77 - today is Sunday, the laboratories are not running at full capacity. Therefore more cases are expected tomorrow.

Three further federal states defined as risk areas

The city of Jena has expanded the risk areas for returnees. Due to the number of cases developing there, Berlin, Hamburg and Rhineland-Palatinate in Jena are now also considered risk areas with immediate effect. Persons who have stayed there in the last 14 days must immediately go into domestic quarantine and report to the public health department on 0049 3641 49-2222 or by e-mail to reiserueckkehrer@jena.de.

Commuters who are not residents of Jena and have been in the defined risk areas for the last 14 days are not allowed to visit their workplace in Jena, to enter sales outlets or to use public transport.

New regulations for people working in critical infrastructure

Both regulations are subject to the exception that people working in the health care system, in the nursing sector or in system-relevant infrastructure (security authorities, supply) are allowed to go to work if they do not show any symptoms. After their professional activity they are obliged to return immediately to home quarantine. Meanwhile, corona infections are increasing nationwide.

Corona case in the urban crisis unit

The first positive corona test was also carried out by the crisis team of the city of Jena. A department head and member of the staff management was tested positive for the virus in a routine test without showing any symptoms, after the last test was still negative. The staff management then immediately arranged for all other staff members to be tested immediately as well. Since high safety standards are applied in the staff and all positions are secured with several deputies, the staff management assumes that the committee's ability to work will remain stable.
