Friedrun Vollmer is the new President of the Thuringian State Music Council
Friedrun Vollmer, Director of Cultural Development and Cultural Education at JenaKultur, was recently unanimously elected as the new President of the Thuringian State Music Council. With almost 60 members, the State Music Council brings together all associations, clubs, institutions and independent music initiatives under one roof and sees itself as a representative of all citizens who are involved in music, whether professionally or as amateurs. It represents their professional and cultural-political interests in public and in politics and is particularly committed to the further development of music culture as a contact for all questions relating to music education and music promotion.
The State Music Council also runs the Thuringian State Music Academy in Sondershausen to implement qualification and encounter measures. It sees itself as an information center and networker and works closely with the other state music councils and the German Music Council at a national level.
Focus on cultural policy lobbying
In her new honorary role, Friedrun Vollmer will primarily focus on cultural policy lobbying at state and national level for the music state of Thuringia. The promotion of young talent is her most important concern. She also hopes that her experience as a former orchestral musician, long-standing director of the Jena Music and Art School and later director of the Westphalian School of Music and now in an important switching function for the entire Jena culture will create numerous synergies.
"I am delighted and warmly congratulate Friedrun Vollmer on this new honorary post in a prominent position at state level," said Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche. "She is taking on responsibility for the cultural landscape of the Free State at the forefront. After just a few months as part of the JenaKultur management team, it is already clear how strong Friedrun Vollmer is in terms of her concepts, for example the cultural concept. The fact that she is now President of the State Music Council is not only a gain for Jena, but for the whole of Thuringia."
