Heidi Fischer Foundation hands over 10.00 protective masks to Jena and the Saale-Holzland district

30.10.2020

Today, the non-profit Heidi Fischer Foundation handed over 10,000 high-quality, washable cotton masks to the city of Jena and the Saale-Holzland district. 4,000 of these were accepted by the Lord Mayor of Jena, Thomas Nitzsche, and the head of the education department, Eberhard Hertzsch, as well as 3,000 by the district administrator, Andreas Heller. Another 1,000 masks have already been sent to other charitable institutions, the remaining 2,000 are still available as a reserve and can be requested from the foundation.

Already in March 2020, the foundation helped to purchase mouth-nose-coverings and provide them free of charge to charitable institutions. Financial support came from the company Q-lnstruments from Jena, namelythrough Olaf Simmat.

Now the opportunity arose to purchase another 10,000 masks from the company Möller Medical from Fulda at a favourable price. This company hadhad started a mask initiative together with other partners in spring. The city of Jena and the Saale-Holzland district are now also benefiting from this initiative, and the company's product manager, Franziska Henning, did not miss the opportunity to be present at the handover.

Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche thanks the commitment of the foundation: "Here, help was provided in an uncomplicated way. At school, it can quickly happen that a mask is forgotten or has to be replaced. The teaching staff can now react quickly.

District Administrator Andreas Heller: "Martin Fischer shows with the donation that he is a convinced Saale-Holzländer and Jenaer. A successful joint project for city and district!
