Continued operation of the schools and children's facilities

29.10.2020

Due to various inquiries regarding the current pandemic situation and the conference between the Chancellor and the Prime Minister, the Jena City Administration would like to announce the following regarding the start of school after the autumn holidays and the continued operation of the children's facilities:

  • With regard to the schools and children's facilities, it was made clear at the Minister President's Conference that these are not affected by closures.
  • Consequently, the step-by-step concept of day care and school under pandemic conditions as well as the current directives of the Thuringian Ministry of Education continue to apply to Thuringia. After the autumn holidays, school instruction at the Jena schools and the operation of the day care facilities will continue as before.
  • For example, as practised before the holidays, the pupils and parents of the affected school will be informed individually when individual infections with the corona virus occur. It may then be necessary to close parts or the entire school for a short period of time, to clarify the contact persons to the infected person and then to have the non-affected parts of the school or day-care centre resume operation as quickly as possible.
  • In the event of a greater incidence of infection, this must always be reported to the state. The responsible ministry then declares if there is a phase "yellow" - restricted regular operation or "red" - closure - for individual schools or kindergartens regionally or, in the worse case, for the schools and kindergartens of the entire city, according to the regulation of the Thuringian Ministry of Education.
  • All pupils, kindergarten children and parents, together with the educators and teachers, are required to observe the personal hygiene rules and to consistently implement the hygiene concepts of the kindergartens and schools. This is the only way to contain the pandemic again and thus celebrate Christmas with fewer worries.
