Jena at the Thuringian Digital Festival

The City of Jena, Jena Economic Development, Stadtwerke Jena and jenawohnen are participating in the Thuringian Digital Festival with several lectures and events, which will take place purely digitally from 14-18 June 2021. The aim of the Thuringian Ministry of Economy, Science and Digital Society (TMWWDG) is to promote digitalization. Digital Festival is to make digitization even more visible as a future topic for citizens. In addition, it is intended to show what successes have already been achieved with regard to digitization in Thuringia.

Jena as a beacon of Thuringia's digital economy and as a city, Jena as a beacon of Thuringia's digital economy and as a city that will give significant impulses for the digitalization of the city (administration & society) with the model project Smart City, must of course not be missing at the Digital Festival. Monday June 14, 2021, 1-4 p.m.: Thuringian Fiber Optic Forum.

Panel discussion: 5G - Possibilities of the new mobile phone generations

Dorothea Prell, 5G project manager of the city of Jena, will discuss with Hans-Jürgen Rosch (Vodafone), Heiko Kahl (Digitalagentur Thüringen) and Dr. Jasper von Detten (Andersen Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft Steuerberatungsgesellschaft) the possibilities of the new mobile phone generation 5G in Jena and in Thuringia.

Thursday 17 June 2021, 11:00 - 11:45 a.m.: Thuringian Digital Conference

Those interested in smart and digital topics should make a note of Thursday, June 17: That's when the Thuringian Digital Conference will take place as part of the Thuringian Digital Festival, where model regions will report on their initial experiences on the road to becoming a smart city. From 11 to 11:45 a.m. , the focus will be on the city of Jena and the Smart Quarter Jena-Lobeda. Jena's digitalization officer Manuela Meyer and Tobias Wolfrum, managing director of Stadtwerke Jena and jenawohnen, will show how far Jena has already come on the road to becoming a smart city and what role the Smart Quarter Jena-Lobeda plays in this. The Digitization Officer of the City of Jena, Manuela Meyer, will discuss with Digitization Officers of other cities the challenges of accompanying this new office in the city hall. The panel is organized by Stadt.Land.Digital, an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi)

Friday, June 18, 2021, 12:00 - 14:00 Jena Digital Safari.

The digital ecosystem in Jena is diverse. Innovative research institutions, young startups, agile software forges, experienced digital agencies and large tech corporations - they are all part of JENA Digital and work on the digital future. At the JENA Digital Safari, participants have the opportunity to virtually explore the Jena digital jungle on the 'Digital Business Tour', the 'Digital Innovation Tour' and the 'Digital Career Tour'.
