JenaKultur expands online offers

24.03.2020

To all those interested in culture and cultural education: we at JenaKultur are and will remain here! The only thing is that for a certain time the encounters with you and you will have to take place differently. Digitally just!

Our facilities have already made some progress in this respect.

Adult Education Centre

Our adult education centre will now present "WISSENSHÄPPCHEN DER WOCHE". These will be online offers. They will come from many different subject areas - "crossbeet", so to speak: art, history, health, languages, IT - and whatever other interesting topics there are.

Lectures, join-in offers, which you can accept comfortably and free of charge from home.

Philharmonic Hall

The Jena Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting a "CD of the week" starting today. From the institution it says:

We would like to continue to make our orchestra accessible to our audience - in a digital version, within the four walls of your home. To this end, we have looked at the CD shelf, which contains many wonderful recordings of the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, which we want to make available for listening on our website in the next few weeks. This offer is provided free of charge. However, we would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the dramatic financial impact that the Corona crisis has had on our freelance colleagues and would ask you to make a donation to the German Orchestra Foundation, which has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign for freelance professional musicians, instead of a ticket for this virtual "concert".

You can find all the information you need at the Orchestra Foundation.

Ernst Abbe Library

The Ernst Abbe Library has also expanded its digital services. Of course, the library card must be valid for this. Due to the emergency operation that has been issued in the meantime, renewal is only possible by e-mail at eab@jena.de.

For children, the interactive reading app Tigerbooks invites them to read exciting stories.

The Brockhaus Encyclopedia and the Brockhaus Youth Encyclopedia will help in the preparation of lectures and presentations and Brockhaus student training can be practised interactively and variedly for various school subjects.

E-media to borrow for your digital devices and eBookReader can be found around the clock on the ThueBibnet page.

The Genios eBiB information portal is a press portal that allows you to read and research newspapers and magazines.

And brand new: The video-on-demand platform Filmfriend. The offer ranges from German classics and sophisticated documentaries to international art house cinema and children's series. The catalogue is constantly being expanded. Filmfriend provides background information on the filmmakers, directors, producers and actors.

So off to the library - online!

Music and art school

Finally, the Jena School of Music and Art is also in the process of developing digital courses. In addition, the Jena music educator Philipp Schäffler had a nice idea:100 students received 100 ukuleles on which they will learn several songs during the upcoming Corona weeks via Youtube tutorial or live video lessons.

After the Corona Weeks, they will come together in one place for a joint flash mob concert. The project takes place in cooperation with MKS and is supported by the Jena-based company dotsource. The instruments are delivered by two honorary employees of the music and art school.

Registration & Coordination via Ulrike Rabia-Blietz under Tel.: 0049 3641 498000 or by e-mail under: ulrike.rabia-blietz@jena.
