New plant manager at Kommunale Immobilien Jena

25.05.2022

The municipal real estate company Kommunale Immobilien Jena (KIJ) will have a new plant manager as of July 1, 2022. Beate Wachenbrunner holds a degree in economics and began her career at the Deutsche Bundesbank, most recently as head of department. From 2011, she was deputy district treasurer at the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district office, then from 2012 managing director of Kreiswerke Schmalkalden-Meiningen GmbH with responsibility for over 700 employees.

Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche said:

"I am delighted that we have gained an experienced manager with vision, assertiveness and convincing communication skills for the continued successful management of our municipal company KIJ."

Start at the City of Jena

Ms. Wachenbrunner applied for the job advertisement Werkleitung KIJ and was able to prevail over 38 competitors. On May 18, 2022, the Jena City Council agreed to appoint Ms. Wachenbrunner as Plant Manager KIJ as of July 1, 2022. The contract was signed today.

Beate Wachenbrunner is looking forward to her new tasks at the City of Jena:

"Together and with joy, all tasks can be well managed."

Finance Director Benjamin Koppe sees the new appointment of Ms. Wachenbrunner as an opportunity for the city administration:

"Both the selection committee and the City Council made a clear decision and vote in the end. Due to her professional career and her experience, especially in municipal responsibility, KIJ has found an ideal successor in Ms. Wachenbrunner. As Finance Director, I look forward to working with her in a spirit of trust. With her at the helm of the Eigenbetrieb, we as a city will succeed in continuing the successful development of KIJ with its variety of tasks for the city."

Ms. Wachenbrunner will start in her new position on July 1, 2022, and will have a two-month joint familiarization period with current plant manager Karl-Hermann Kliewe before Mr. Kliewe retires.
