New general decree for Jena in force

A new general decree will come into force for Jena on 23 March 2021. The requirements for covering the mouth and nose in the city centre and on publicly accessible playgrounds will continue to apply. Likewise, the ordinance was adopted, in facial treatments or services is also still a FFP2 mask or FFP3 mask in each case without exhalation valve to wear. No new regulations have been added beyond the existing ones. The order is effective until April 12, 2021.

The health department advises not to become careless now. As before, no sustainable downward trend in infection figures can be seen in Jena. The 7-day incidence is still fluctuating strongly. Due to the spread of proven mutation cases and clustered infections at schools and day care centers, we must now do everything we can to ensure that the facilities can remain open.

So far, 92 cases of mutations have been detected in Jena. 11 educational institutions have currently reported infections. The 7-day incidence by age shows an increase in infections in the past 3 weeks, especially in the age groups 0 - 6 and 7 - 18.

Jena continues to rely on the Luca App

Registration with the Luca App will be offered for admission to the Ernst Abbe Library from Tuesday and to the city council meetings this week, thus continuing the successful trial. The crisis management team and JenaKultur consider the positive assessment of the Thuringian data protection commissioner Lutz Hasse from December 2020 on the Luca App as still valid.

Dr. Thomas Nitzsche, Lord Mayor of the City of Jena: "We were Luca users from the very beginning and are convinced that Luca is exactly the right app for digital contact tracing because it offers the important connection to the SORMAS system. The declaration of no objection from the Thuringian data protection commissioner from December is available. We now quickly need a clear and binding perspective for the use of Luca. Because only in this way will we also increase user confidence."

If the planned disclosure of the app's source code reveals security vulnerabilities, the situation will have to be re-evaluated, but this is not assumed. Those who do not want to use the app can continue to register by hand.

Rapid tests as part of the pandemic response

Testing centers will continue to offer free rapid tests during business hours this week. A new addition is a drive-in at Ringwiese in Jena-Winzerla. Here you can have the test done in your car.

This means that four rapid test centres are now available:

F-Haus (entrance Krautgasse)

  • Tue, Thu, Fri: 15:00 - 20:00 hrs
  • Sat: 09:00 - 13:00 hrs

  • Mon - Sat: 10:00 - 14:00 hrs.

Lobeda-East (Ernst-Schneller-Straße 10)

  • every odd date (23. / 25. / 27. / 29. / 31.03.): 14:00 - 17:00 o'clock

Drive-in An der Ringwiese 2 (parking lot Fitness-Club Ringwiese)

  • Tue: 15:00 - 18:00 and Wed - Fri: 08:00 - 10:00 + 15:00 - 18:00

As of today, the city of Jena also offers free rapid tests for school children in grades 1 - 6. This sends a clear signal to the state government that this should also be implemented throughout the Free State.
