City of Jena launches information page on energy topics
The city of Jena is now providing citizens with information on current energy issues on the newly created website (jena.de/energy-crisis). Information is shared from the current federal regulations, the city of Jena's energy saving plan and helpful tips for saving energy. These energy-saving tips are also available in plain language and in English, Arabic, Dari and Kurdish and are a service provided by the North Rhine-Westphalia consumer advice center.
The city's help services, such as applying for housing and unemployment benefits, can also be found on the website. The debt advice service in Jena has also compiled information on the energy price allowance (EEP). A creditor can garnish a debtor's wages and/or account. Unfortunately, the EPP is not automatically protected against seizure. This means that citizens must take action themselves. Applications against account and wage garnishment are linked on the website. The EPP's protection against garnishment is not regulated by law. The court must decide.
Information is also provided on the energy-saving check offer. This is a joint campaign by the German Caritas Association and the Federal Association of Energy and Climate Protection Agencies in Germany and can be done via the website(link is external). The campaign has several objectives. On the one hand, the aim is to reduce electricity consumption in low-income households and thus reduce their cost burden, while at the same time giving long-term unemployed people the chance to re-enter working life through their work as energy-saving helpers. People who receive unemployment benefit II (ALGII), social assistance, housing benefit, child supplement or a low pension or whose income is below the seizure amount are eligible to participate. Participation is free of charge.
There are links to the situation reports of the Federal Network Agency and information from the network operator Stadtwerke Jena-Netze on current energy market developments. There are also links to the latest market information from the Stadtwerke Jena Group. Energy data from the city, e.g. from the energy report or energy monitoring reports, can also be found on the website.
The Jena Economic Development Agency(link is external) provides tips and information specifically for companies on its website(link is external). It provides an overview of the current regulations for short and medium-term energy-saving measures of the federal government and the city of Jena. The most important information and relevant contacts are also listed there.
The websites of JenaWirtschaft and the City of Jena are continuously updated and adapted to current developments and legal regulations.
