Household survey on mobility behavior
Research into the everyday mobility of the population in Jena is the subject of a household survey that will be launched by the Technical University of Dresden at the beginning of 2023.
The aim is to find out whether and with which means of transport everyday life is covered and what distances are covered.
The addresses of the selected households were drawn at random from the population register. These households receive a letter informing them about the survey and asking for their cooperation. Participation in the survey is voluntary. The survey period begins in January 2023 and runs for twelve months.
TU Dresden has commissioned the Leipzig-based institute O.trend GmbH to carry out the survey. All data will be collected there, anonymized and handed over to TU Dresden for evaluation. Compliance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is guaranteed.
The city of Jena has been participating in the project designed by TU Dresden as a "System of Representative Traffic Surveys" (SrV) since 1977. This means that Jena has a unique time series on the development of the mobility behavior of Jena's citizens and is therefore able to derive trends and tendencies for the coming years. At the same time, this new round of surveys provides valuable data material for analyses and planning in the local public transport sector and for transport network modeling.
For this reason, the mobility department of the city administration of Jena and the TU Dresden are asking all selected households to take part in the survey. Only through the active participation of as many citizens as possible can representative data be obtained, which is essential for future-proof transport planning.
