Twin city Browary: Statement by the Lord Mayor on the helicopter crash

Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche has reacted with dismay to the events in Jena's future twin city, Browary in the Ukraine. According to current information, 14 people were killed in a helicopter crash there, including children and the Ukrainian Minister of the Interior.

"The news from Ukraine has been shocking ever since the war began. But the links that have now been established with the Ukrainian twin town of Browary bring the war a little closer for us in Jena too. We are deeply saddened by the tragedy and have sent a letter of condolence together with our twin city Erlangen. And of course we will not and must not let up in the relief efforts that we have been organizing for several weeks now. They are needed now more than ever."
