Catching the light: marvel at the night owls up close on Saturday

28.05.2024

Did you know that of the approximately 3,700 butterfly species native to Germany, only around 200 are diurnal butterflies? The vast majority are therefore nocturnal. The next public light trapping event on 01.06.2024 on the grounds of the forum natura nature experience center on Schottplatz will focus on these nocturnal butterflies. Together with experts, participants will be able to take a close look at moths, beetles and the like.

  • On 01.06.2024
  • Admission from 20:00 hrs | Lecture: 20:30 hrs | Light trapping from 21:15 hrs
  • Meeting point: entrance to the Waldvilla, forum natura

Participation is free of charge and registration is not necessary.

The event is jointly organized by the Stadtforst Jena, the Natura2000-Station Mittlere Saale and the Fachdienst Umweltschutz.
