Postal voting starts on Wednesday

04.02.2025

With the delivery of postal voting documents on Tuesday afternoon, the mailing of postal voting documents will begin on Wednesday. By Monday evening, around 19,000 voters had already applied for their postal voting documents. In order to process as many postal vote applications as possible on Wednesday and prepare them for dispatch, the citizens' services will remain closed on this day. Priority will be given to processing the 500 or so postal vote applications from Germans living abroad. The most requests come from Australia, North America and Asia.

On Wednesday, all postal voting documents requested by 03.02.2025(online and in writing) will be enveloped and handed over to Deutsche Post for delivery. This means that the letters are expected to be delivered by the weekend. From Thursday, all applications for postal votes will be processed and sent out on a daily basis. The Jena electoral authority does not expect the delays predicted elsewhere.

Anyone who has applied for postal voting and has not received their documents by 15.02.2025 should report to the postal polling station from Monday, 17.02.2025. The application for postal voting documents is still preferably possible online. The quickest way to find the input mask is via the QR code on the election notification or the corresponding tile on the homepage of the city of Jena. The city administration highly recommends using this application method, as this is the quickest way to record and process the data.

Postal votes can also be applied for at the postal polling station in Klostergasse (next to the Citizens' Services) from Wednesday and, if necessary, voted immediately.

The postal polling station is open as follows:

  • Monday 8:30-13:00
  • Tuesday 8:30-18:00
  • Wednesday 9:00-13:00
  • Thursday 8:30-16:00
  • Friday 8:30-13:00
