Successful fire department graduates
Certificates awarded to 15 participants of the basic training course at the Jena professional fire department
All 15 participants in the basic training course for the intermediate fire department have successfully passed their exams. Together with safety officer Benjamin Koppe, the training team from the Jena professional fire department presented the graduates with their certificates today at the southern fire station in Göschwitz.
Six of the graduates are fire officer candidates from the city of Jena, including one emergency paramedic. In addition, four fire chief inspector candidates from the Berlin fire department, one fire chief candidate from the Unstrut-Hainich district and three from the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district as well as one plant firefighter took part. "The fact that candidates from other regions also come to Jena for the basic training course speaks for the high quality of the training," emphasized Benjamin Koppe and thanked the specialist fire department in particular: "Our instructors not only have to keep adapting to new participants, but also to new training content." The demand for training in the fire department is very high in Thuringia, but also nationwide, said Koppe. "At the same time, we are grateful that we are able to provide regular training and that we have the best conditions thanks to our well-equipped training grounds in Jena, among other things."
A total of 1000 hours of training completed
During the six-month basic training course in Jena, the men completed a total of 1000 hours of training. In addition to around 500 hours of theory in the subjects of legal principles, German, math, physics, equipment, fire and extinguishing theory, the curriculum also included around 400 hours of practical training. The focus was on topics such as firefighting knots, firefighting attacks, vehicle technology, technical assistance and respiratory protection training. During a four-day training camp, the participants trained at the military training area in Ohrdruf, and there were also several trial operations at gas and wood-fired training houses. Around 100 hours of sport were practiced for personal fitness.
Two basic training courses are planned for the coming year. The six-month courses start in April and October.
