Dhe Smart City project can already present a significant milestone after the start of the implementation phase: the urban data platform "WISSENsAllmende Jena" is launched. The data platform will initially be launched with data from environmental sensors, population development, trees in public spaces and all information from the previous Open Data Portal of the City of Jena. It is available at wissensallmende.jena.de can be called up. In the future, additional use cases will be added, such ase.g. to public transport, events, air quality or municipal budget and controlling data on theThe urban data platform will be available for downloading in the future.

Department head Benjamin Koppe emphasizes the importance of this measure: "The introduction of the Urban Data Platform marks a significant step toward a smart and future-oriented city. We are confident that this platform will not only only deepen our understanding of urban processes, but also strengthens our ability to respond quickly to the needs of our citizens."

The measure is located in Action Area 1, "Digital Infrastructure and Data Policy." The sub-project leader and treasurer of the city of Jena, Martin Berger:

"In line with the vision of the project "Jena digitizes, learns and shares. Our city creates and uses KNOWLEDGE for a just, sustainable and innovative city." this project is under the sign of knowledge transfer. Urban data offers great opportunities for the city association to improve its own work and to use the public space with its infrastructures more usable for the people of Jena."

The Jena Smart City Project has recognized this opportunity and has made it its mission to create an urban data space in which the full potential of urban data is leveraged. To this end, the city of Jena has provided a central digital infrastructure which was further developed on the basis of the open source software PIVEAU together with Fraunhofer FOKUS.

"In a comprehensive and far-sighted approach, the data infrastructure is designed in such a way that a wide range of data can be easily integrate and make available. Thus, there is the possibility that further data sets will be added to the platform as use cases at a later stage," adds overall project manager Dorothea Prell.

When publishing data, the city of Jena works with various experts, such as Fraunhofer IDMT, to ensure data protection and data security at all times. The personal data of citizens, in particular, is subject to strict datadata is subject to strict data protection rules, which are also implemented in the urban data context. Data sets containing personal information may only be made available if they are sufficiently aggregated and anonymized. To this end, the Smart City project extensive professional, content-related and technical precautions will be taken.
