Department 4 - Social Affairs, Health, Immigration & Climate
Since 01.10.2024, the City of Jena has had five departments instead of four. As a result, the organizational structure on the website will be revised and updated by the beginning of 2025.

Integration assistance / care assistance team
Benefits for basic security in old age and in the event of incapacity to work as well as benefits for subsistence within institutions in accordance with SGB XII are among the main tasks of the integration assistance / assistance for care team.

Municipal utilities team
One of the main tasks of the Municipal Benefits team is to determine the severely disabled.

Official medical service team
Assessments in accordance with civil service law, fitness for duty for civil servants with long-term illnesses, and funeral law are among the main tasks of the public medical service.

Pediatric and adolescent dental service team
The main tasks of the Children's and Adolescents' Dental Service team include dental examinations under state aid law and preventive dental check-ups in accordance with ThürKitaG, ThürSchulG, SchulgespflVO and § 21 SGB V.

Pediatric and adolescent medical service team
School enrolment examinations in accordance with the Thuringian School Act and the Thuringian School Regulations with an opinion on the development of the children, collection of vaccination data and annual preventive medical check-ups are among the main tasks of the paediatric and youth medical service team.

Refugee affairs and temporary accommodation team
The planning, administration and operation of municipal facilities for accommodating refugees and immigrants are among the main tasks of the Refugee Affairs and Transition Homes team.

Social assistance team outside of institutions
The main tasks of the Social Assistance Outside Institutions team include providing basic security benefits in old age and in the event of incapacity to work as well as assistance with living expenses outside of institutions in accordance with SGB XII.

Social psychiatric service team
The main tasks of the Social Psychiatric Services team include pre- and aftercare for mentally ill people and addicts, counseling and support for those affected and their relatives, outreach work in accordance with the ThürPsychKG and psychosocial counseling.

Social Services
General debt counseling and the provision of basic security and subsistence assistance within institutions are among the main tasks of the Social Services department.
